Rocamadour Fermier AOP x2
Rocamadour Fermier AOP x2
The rich yet delicate Rocamadour belongs to a family of goat cheeses called Cabecous (little chèvre, in English). It is one of the smallest cheeses produced in France. It is produced in the regions of Perigord and Quercy, and the name is derived from the village of Rocamadour in the department of the Lot.
La petite histoire: By the 15th century, Rocamadour's reputation and popularity had grown so much that the dairy farmers and peasants were allowed to use the cheese as a form of currency to pay both their taxes and the rent on their land.
Our Rocamadour is awarded AOP ("Appellation d’Origine Protégée", which means Protected Designation of Origin). The AOP mark is the highest distinction awarded by the European Union and confirms the excellence of a product, its artisanship and unimpeachable quality.
