Blue StiltonΒ is one of the best British cheeses suitable not only for celebrations, but also to perk up everyday dishes. The distinctive feature of Blue Stilton is its magical blue veins radiating from the center of the cheese. This cheese is divinely paired with sherry and port wine. It is also aΒ treat with walnuts, crackers, biscuits and bread.
La petite histoire: The Stilton cheese can only be produced in the three counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. The paradox is that Blue Stilton cannot be made in the town of Stilton in a county now outside the AOP area! This paradox comes from Cooper Thornhill, an entrepreneur, resident in a Stilton inn, who bought it from the wife of a farmer who lived in Melton Mowbray, where it is still made, and called it Stilton cheese.
