Chaource is a soft cheese made fromΒ cow milk in the village of Chaource, France.Β It has a soft-ripened, creamy and a little bit crumbly, non-elastic texture. Many people like it young when its rind is hardly formed whereas othersΒ prefer it at full maturation.
La petite histoire:Β The first written traces ofΒ Chaource date back to the 14th century. Marguerite of Burgundy appreciated required it at every meal. It wasΒ introduced to Charles IV Le Bel during his visit to Chaource.
OurΒ ChaourceΒ is awarded AOPΒ ("Appellation dβOrigine ProtΓ©gΓ©e",Β which meansΒ Protected Designation of Origin).Β The AOP mark is the highest distinction awarded by the European Union andΒ confirms the excellence of a product, its artisanship and unimpeachable quality.
